KDF is a favourite Kenyan snack. The name KDF originated from the Kenya Defence Forces because the snack is said to defend you against all threats of hunger.
INGREDIENTS
- 3 cups self-rising flour
- 3 tablespoon margarine, melted
- 4 tablespoon sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- Cooking oil
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large bowl, use a wooden spoon to beat together margarine and sugar until creamy.
- Add the eggs and milk and whisk thoroughly.
- Add the self-rising flour into the bowl and knead into a dough.
- Ensure the dough is soft, but not sticky.
- Let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Roll the dough on a lightly floured board until it is about 1-3 inches thick, depending on how meaty you want your KDF.
- Use the knife to cut the dough into rectangles.
- Fry the dough in hot oil for 6-8 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from fire and place the ready KDFs in a bowl lined with paper towel. Serve with tea.
